Us Army Pacific Command - The United States Army Pacific (USARPAC) is an Army Service Component Command (ASCC) designated by the Secretary of the Army (SECARMY); it can also serve as the Joint Task Force headquarters. It is the army component unit of the United States of America Indo-Pacific Command and its mission is to support the commander of the United States of America Indo-Pacific Command.
The main areas over which this command has jurisdiction include Alaska, Hawaii, the Pacific Ocean, Japan and South Korea. It also carries out missions in Southeast Asia, in countries ranging from the Philippines to Bangladesh and India. United States Forces Korea (USFK) has had operational command and control of United States Forces Korea since January 2012, and USARPAC Headquarters oversees the manning, training, and equipping of assigned US Army forces at USFK.

However, subordinate units of this command sometimes carry out humanitarian missions in places such as Haiti, Cuba and the Middle East.
Usarpac Becomes 4 Star Headquarters During Change Of Command
USARPAC traces its lineage back to 1898, when the United States became a major power in the Pacific. In 1921, Fort Shafter became the headquarters of the Hawaiian Department. When the United States ended World War II, the Hawaiian Department became subordinate to the Commander in Chief of the Pacific Territories.
During the Vietnam War, the command provided the same support to the US Army in Vietnam. After the war, the military cut its presence in the region because there was no longer a need for such large numbers of combat forces in the Pacific. Subsequently, USARPAC was eliminated as a component command, and Army Forces Korea and Japan became separate major commands. In Hawaii, USARPAC headquarters was replaced by the United States Army Support Command Hawaii (USASCH) and a field operations department of the Army, United States Army Support Group CINCPAC.
In 1979, the Army established US Army Western Command (WESTCOM) as a major command and Army component of the US Pacific Command. WESTCOM assumed command of the armed forces in Hawaii. In 1989 he added the US Army in Alaska and in 1990 the US Army in Japan. In 1990, WESTCOM was renamed USARPAC. USARPAC has st powers on various humanitarian missions, disaster relief and defensive support of civil authorities.
Since 9/11, the command has played a major role in the defense of the United States homeland. The command also has soldiers in support of the global war on terrorism to fill operational gaps.
U.s. Army Pacific Breaks Ground On Command, Control Facility
The command insignia was designed in 1944. It represents the axis of advance of American forces across the Pacific.
Former units include the US Army Chemical Activity, Pacific, at Johnston Atoll, which traces part of its history back to the 267th Chemical Company and Project 112 Biological Defense experiments. Flynn arrives at Fort Shafter after serving as deputy chief of staff for United States operations, plans and training at the Pentagon. He succeeds LaCamera, who was confirmed by the US Senate last month as the next commanding general of US forces in Korea.
Flynn's return to Hawaii is a homecoming, as he commanded the 25th Infantry Division at Schofield Barracks from 2014 to 2016 and served as deputy commanding general, US Pacific, from 2016 to 2018.
"From the president and secretary of defense to combatant commands and chiefs, our nation's defense leaders have ordered us to think, act, and operate differently -- and in doing so, as history has taught us time and time again, we will -- more to effectively compete, deter and, if necessary, win in the Indo-Pacific.

"US. Pacific Command is a critical part of our approach to building a lethal, distributed joint force west of the International Date Line that can protect, sustain and fully integrate with all our allies and partners," he said. said.
Chief of Staff General James C. McConville expressed confidence that Flynn will lead the men and women of the United States Pacific to continued success.
"I know General Flynn will continue to ensure that this command and these Soldiers are ready to fight tonight and build momentum to deliver new capabilities for the future. General Flynn is a proven leader who in an interagency and multinational environment can work and understands the importance of this region," said McConville.
McConville also thanked General LaCamera for his dedication and commitment to the US Pacific and the great team he assembled during his tenure.

"I could not be more proud of the men and women of Pacific America for all that you have accomplished over the past two years, especially this past year despite many significant challenges," McConville said. "You have stood by our allies and partners in times of crisis and natural disasters. You truly understand how vital your efforts are to a nation and you have maintained that sense of urgency no matter what adversity you have encountered.
LaCamera, who assumed command of the US Pacific in November 2019, is expected to lead Gen. Replaced Robert Abrams as the next U.N. command, R.O.K.-U.S. Combined Forces Command and Commander of US Forces Korea.
“Maintaining world class is critical to regional security in the Indo-Pacific. My predecessors and I have been committed to this, and I know General Flynn will take it to the next level,” LaCamera said. "Our Soldiers serve in some of the most remote and austere locations in the Indo-Pacific and build trust and capacity with our allies and partners. We learn from each other; we build combat readiness together. Trust with allies and like-minded partners is essential to to preserve this free and open Indo-Pacific.
In addition to commanding an infantry division in Hawaii, Flynn commanded troops at the battalion and brigade level with the famed 82nd Airborne Division, which served combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. Flynn is the 38th commanding general of the US Pacific, the largest service component command in the United States.
